Eco Purify Water

A straight comparison of your filter options.

Eco Purify Water costs $2,499 installed. That is less than most installed packages, and more than a bare kit or a jug. Below you can see what each option filters, what it costs over the years and what is not in the price, so every option is measured the same way.

Five options for a Melbourne home, side by side.

Two only filter the water you drink. The other three cover every tap and shower. The ranges are Australian prices we saw in October and November 2026, and they will change.

We took the installer and kit ranges from Australian retail listings and installer websites. Our own prices are the ones in our shop. For an item-by-item look at the installed price, see the cost breakdown.

What you get for the money, and when to skip it.

The answers we would give you over the phone.

How does Eco Purify come in under most installed packages?

We keep it simple. There is one system, we quote it from your photos rather than sending a salesperson, and the install takes an afternoon. Nothing is cut to get there. For $2,499 you get three 20 inch housings in a weatherproof cabinet, a bypass valve and pressure gauge, a licensed plumber, the compliance certificate and your first 12 months of cartridges, at a price fixed before anyone comes out. Across the industry, cartridge sets on their own run $150 to $450 a year, so compare what each quote actually covers, not only the total.

When does a cheaper option make more sense?

Renting, in an apartment with a shared meter, or only bothered by how your drinking water tastes? Then an under-sink filter is the better fit, at a fraction of the cost of a whole house system. A bare kit can also work out cheaper if you are handy and have a plumber you trust. Just add up the cabinet, bypass, gauge, fittings and certificate before you compare.

What should I ask an installer so the quotes line up?

Ask four questions. How many stages, and what size housings? Is a compliance certificate included? Are the first year's cartridges included? Is the price fixed before the visit, or only confirmed afterwards? Different answers mean you are not comparing the same thing.

Does a Melbourne home even need a whole house filter?

Not for safety. Melbourne mains water meets the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines and is safe to drink. You would fit a whole house filter to remove the chlorine taste and smell at every tap and shower, and to stop sediment reaching your fixtures and appliances. If neither of those bothers you, save your money.
