Whole house water filter cost in Melbourne.
With Eco Purify Water, a whole house water filter in Melbourne metro is $2,499 installed. One fixed price covers the three-stage system, a licensed plumber to fit it, the compliance certificate and your first 12 months of cartridges. Elsewhere in Melbourne, installed packages run about $2,995 to $6,500, with cartridges usually charged on top.
In short.
A standard installation anywhere in Melbourne metro is $2,499 installed, including GST. From year two, it is $299 a year to have the cartridges fitted for you, or $179 a year to have them delivered.
You know the price before anyone comes out. Send us photos of your water meter area and we confirm it, usually that same day. Then a licensed plumber connects the Eco Purify Home System to your main supply, which takes two to three hours. No call-out fee, and nothing gets added on the day. If your site needs more than a standard install, we tell you before you book, never after.
A lot of Melbourne cost guides give you a range, then ask you to phone for the real figure. This page lays it all out instead: everything the price covers, line by line, what the same job costs if you buy the parts yourself, what cartridges cost over time, and the few things that could change the price for your home.

Everything in the installed price.
All it takes to turn an unfiltered mains connection into a working, certified system. None of it is an optional extra.
Inside the weatherproof cabinet are three 20 inch housings on 25 mm connections, sized for a whole household's flow. Water passes a 5 micron pleated sediment stage first, then two carbon stages. See what each stage does or read the complete specifications.
- Weatherproof wall cabinet housing the three-stage filter system
- Three new cartridges, installed and ready to go
- Pressure gauge and bypass valve
- Licensed plumber installation across Melbourne metro
- Plumbing compliance certificate for the work
- Replacement cartridges for your first 12 months
- Care guide, plus reminders when a filter change is due
- We take the packaging away and leave the site tidy
The housings have a 10 year warranty, and the cabinet, valves and gauge have 2 years. Details are on refunds and warranty.
Our installed price, or a kit and your own plumber.
You can buy the same three housings bare for a few hundred dollars. What separates the two is all the work needed before any water flows through them.
| Option | Supply only | Installed | What to check |

These market ranges are Australian retail and installer prices we saw in October 2026, and they will change. Our own prices come straight from the catalogue on this site.
The plumber's bill on top
Buy a system on your own and connecting it becomes a separate job for a licensed plumber. You pay for their labour, by the hour or as a set job rate. You also pay for the fittings, isolation valves and bracket missing from the kit, and for the compliance certificate that every mains connection job in Victoria needs. Check whether their quote covers a bypass valve and pressure gauge, since plenty of bare kits leave them out, and whether they will come back for free if a housing leaks.
With Eco Purify, that is all in a single price, and the team that supplies your system is the team that fits it. If a housing ever leaks, you have one number to ring.
What price ranges do not tell you
Melbourne cost guides online put a whole house system anywhere from under $2,000 to over $6,000. At the bottom end you usually get one or two housings and no cabinet. At the top end there is a sales visit, with a cartridge plan charged on top. Neither figure is your real price until someone has seen the site.
To compare fairly, put the same four questions to every installer. How many stages, and what size? Is the compliance certificate included? Are the first year's cartridges included? Is the price fixed before the visit?
Yearly costs after installation.
Year one is covered. From year two, pay one yearly charge to have the cartridges looked after, or buy a set and change it yourself.
Your installed price includes the first 12 months of replacement cartridges, so you have no running costs until year two. After that, the Care Plan is $299 a year. You get a full three-cartridge set before it is due, a reminder two weeks ahead, fitting by our plumbers in Melbourne metro, priority support, and an extended warranty for as long as the plan is active. It renews each year, and you can cancel anytime.
To put that in context, replacement sets for 20 inch three-stage systems sell for $150 to $450 a year across the industry, and that is before fitting. Happy to swap cartridges yourself? The delivered plan is $179 a year, and our FAQ shows you how. The fitted Care Plan suits people who would rather it just happened on time, without having to think about it.
Across ten years, with the Care Plan from year two onwards, you pay $5,190 in total. That works out to about $519 a year for filtered water at every tap, shower and appliance in your home.
When the price can be different.
Our fixed price is for a standard installation, and most Melbourne homes fit that. Here is what can take a home outside it.
Standard means an accessible meter area, a 20 or 25 mm mains connection and the cabinet within two metres of the meter. If your site needs more, you hear from us before installation, and you can cancel for a full refund. The fine print sits in our terms of sale.

- Meter location
- Our fixed price assumes the cabinet goes on an accessible wall within two metres of the meter. If your meter is at the front fence and the closest wall is ten metres off, that is a longer pipe run. We price that extra work for you before the day.
- Pipe size and condition
- Your price includes a standard 20 or 25 mm mains connection. We quote separately for larger mains, galvanised pipe that has to be replaced at the connection, or a meter assembly that needs rebuilding before we can fit anything.
- Getting to the meter
- Our plumber has to get tools and the cabinet to both the meter and the wall. A locked pit, thick planting or a deck over the meter all add time. Send us photos and we will let you know if it makes a difference.
- Tank water or fluoride removal
- The Home System is designed for mains water. Rainwater that may carry bacteria also needs a UV stage. Carbon does not remove fluoride, so taking it out at the kitchen tap needs a reverse osmosis unit. We quote both as add-ons.
- Beyond Melbourne metro
- Our installed price covers Melbourne metro and surrounds. If you are further out, tell us your suburb and we will confirm whether we can get to you and what the travel costs.
Is it worth it for a Melbourne home?
Our mains water is safe to drink, so this comes down to comfort and upkeep. The right answer depends on what you want to change.
Melbourne's mains supply meets the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines, and a whole house filter is not there to make it safe. It removes the chlorine taste and smell at every tap and in every shower, and stops sediment building up in aerators, the hot water unit and appliance inlets. Fluoride stays in, and since Melbourne water is soft, you will rarely need a softener.
Only after better drinking water at the kitchen tap? An under-sink unit does that for a fraction of the price, and we will point you to one. If you want the whole house filtered at the inlet, with the cartridges taken care of, the numbers on this page are everything you pay.

What does an installed whole house water filter cost in Melbourne?
With Eco Purify, a standard installation in Melbourne metro is $2,499, including GST. For that you get the three-stage system in a weatherproof cabinet, a licensed plumber to install it, the plumbing compliance certificate and your first 12 months of replacement cartridges. Installed packages from other Melbourne companies run about $2,995 to $6,500, and most charge for cartridges on top.
Would buying a system and using my own plumber save money?
On the sticker, sometimes. On the finished job, rarely. A bare 20 inch triple housing kit costs $445 to $999, but it comes with no cabinet, bypass valve, pressure gauge, mounting bracket or fittings. A licensed plumber then bills separately for connecting it, for the compliance certificate, and for coming back if something leaks. Tally all of that before you compare.
What do I get for the installed price?
A three-stage filtration system in a weatherproof wall cabinet, three new cartridges already fitted, a bypass valve and pressure gauge, installation by a licensed plumber in Melbourne metro, the plumbing compliance certificate, your first 12 months of replacement cartridges, a care guide with filter-change reminders, and we take the packaging away. No call-out fee.
What are the yearly costs once it is installed?
Year one costs nothing more, since your first 12 months of cartridges are included. From then on, the Care Plan is $299 a year: a cartridge set before it is due, a reminder, and our plumber fitting it in Melbourne metro. Or pay $179 a year to have the set delivered and fit it yourself. Across the industry, replacement sets for similar systems sell for $150 to $450 a year, and that is before anyone fits them.
Will anything be added to the bill on the day?
No. The installed price covers a standard installation, which means an accessible meter area, a 20 or 25 mm mains connection and the cabinet within two metres of the meter. If your site needs more, you hear from us before the booking is confirmed, and you can cancel for a full refund.
Is it worth paying for a whole house water filter in Melbourne?
Our mains water meets the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines and is safe to drink, so you are deciding on comfort and upkeep, not safety. The system takes the chlorine taste and smell out of every tap and shower, and keeps sediment away from your appliances and fixtures. If you just want nicer drinking water from one tap, an under-sink unit costs less, and we will tell you that.
